Will our new socialistic society make charitable giving obsolete?
Americans are giving people. We love fundraisers, volunteer work and benefits. I am attending one on Sunday for a woman who needs a kidney transplant. Our community is pitching in to help her pay her out-of-pocket medical expenses. Once Obama's reign begins and he insures that everyone's financial needs are met from birth to death, what will happen to all the charities and fundraisers and benefit dinners? If everyone's needs are met they won't be necessary, but if there are still people who need some extra help, who will have money to contribute? And without discretionary income, who will save the polar bears and Walk For The Cure? And how will the celebrities justify their collective existence without AIDS benefits? Will charity work, the Salvation Army, food banks and walk-a-thons be gone for good?
