Is it worse to see the old stars die or burn out?

When you remember the stars from the 50s, 60s and 70s they have either died, burned out or a select few have been able to keep their careers alive. If you compare John Lennon to Bob Dylan, John is remembered in a lot higher regard due to his demise. Bob's demise was a lot less glamorous. Do you think the old stars are served a miss justice by not living fast and dieing young?
