Name of a movie where Pirates are fighting in a swamp with either indians redcoats union or confederates?

i know this is very vague the movie was most likely between the 1940s and 1950s but may have also been made in the 60s i think clark gable or john wayne may have been in it but not both, i could also be totally wrong that either of them were in it. But the battle takes place at night and pirates are fighting against either indians redcoats union or confederates. It is a very large battle, the trouble is i cannot remember whet the movie is called since i saw it a very long time ago. it is not Band of Angels
