How do you write a letter asking for college student discounts at restaurants?

I am writing a letter for my college dorms. We are located in NYC and have 600 residents. We will include the restaurants that give us discounts in our monthly newsletter, on every floor, and in our game room. Can someone help me with a sample letter or at least step-by-step tips.
